Licensed Group Childcare Home School Age Program
Stepping Stones Home Child Care School-Age Program is a place
where your child can enjoy the excitement of learning and growing in a home setting.
A typical day at
Stepping Stones is structured, not strict, in having time for both developmentally appropriate activities for all ages in
care, snacks, meals, and any homework assignments including transportation to and from Troy Heritage Trail Elementary School. A healthy balanced breakfast is served every morning before school and a healthy snack
afterward. We encourage children to complete their homework in a timely manner
before beginning an activity. On days off of school and early dismissals we try
to schedule field trips and/or special activities appropriate for all ages in the group.
Benefits for children and families enrolled in Stepping Stones Home Child
Care:
- Balanced home cooked meals and
nutritious snacks promote healthy eating habits. A wide variety of healthy foods
are offered daily. A meal calendar is sent home monthly to help detect and prevent
food allergies.
- We know that every parent doesn’t
work from nine to five and we also know what it is like to need five more minutes at the office, or be stuck in traffic. Therefore, our lenient pickup and drop off times give parents extra minutes without
extra fees.
- Every child makes mistakes or
is naughty at times. We believe consistency, reasoning, compassion, and encouragement
has more of an effect than punishments.
- The combination of active and
quiet play allows children to be rid of their energy and to give them the “down-time” they need in order to focus
and relate to others in the group.
- Convenient hours for a parent’s
busy schedule.
- Ability to teach children in
multi-age group due to small setting
- Provide transportation for school-agers
to Troy Heritage Trail Elementary School
- Meets all health and safety standards
as required by DCFS and NAFCC
Activities
We aspire to bring out your child’s creativity and imagination through
visual, auditory, and kinesthetic capabilities.
Challenging and developmental activities such as manipulatives (puzzles,
Legos, etc.), various art supplies (water color, tempera, etc.), science center, books of numerous reading levels, and music
keep children busy while learning and having fun with others.
Guidelines
Structure with easy to follow rules lets children feel their environment
is stable. There are two simple guidelines everyone, including adults, follows
at Stepping Stones: Respect one another because everyone deserves respect; and Try your best!
About the Owner
Stepping Stones Home Child Care is owned and operated by Jennifer Brosnahan,
a Medical Assistant and Veterinary Technician from Clarendon Hills, IL. Jennifer moved to the west side of Joliet
after she got married in 2004. She has been working with children for over 10
years, loving and caring for all children as if they were her own.
Having a background with animals, she enjoys teaching children to respect
and care for animals. There are three animals in the Brosnahan house: two dogs,
Wile E.and Toby, and a cat, Robin. The animals are shy at times, but do exceptionally
well with children.
